Privacy Policy
Upvote Picks is built to be a small, fast content site. The privacy situation here is intentionally boring: we collect as little as we can get away with, and what we do collect stays anonymous.
What we collect
Aggregate page analytics. If we have analytics turned on (Plausible, or similar privacy-respecting tool), the site logs which pages get loaded, the referring site, the rough country, browser version, and screen size. None of this is tied to your identity. There are no third-party cookies, no advertising trackers, and no Google Analytics gathering data for ad personalization.
Information you give us directly. If you email us at [email protected], your email address and message stay in our inbox until we deal with the request. We do not add it to any mailing list without your consent.
Email subscriptions. If you opt into the newsletter, your email address is sent to Buttondown, our newsletter provider. You can unsubscribe at any time with one click from any newsletter email. We do not add you to the list unless you submit the signup form yourself.
Cookies
We do not use cookies for tracking, advertising, or analytics. If the site ever sets a cookie, it will be for a strictly functional reason (remembering a preference you set on the site) and a notice will appear before this changes.
Affiliate links and external sites
Some links on this site go to Amazon or other retailers. When you click one of those links and visit those sites, those companies have their own tracking practices governed by their own privacy policies. We have no ability to control or audit what Amazon does once you arrive there.
Amazon Associates uses a tracking identifier in the link URL
(tag= plus an additional sub-tag we add to identify which
article you came from). The sub-tag is not tied to you personally; it
just tells us which guide was useful.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your information to anyone, ever.
- We do not run third-party advertising on the site.
- We do not embed Facebook pixels, Google Ads remarketing, or similar trackers.
- We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Your rights (CCPA / GDPR)
If you are in California, the EU, or the UK and want to know what (if anything) we have about you, or want it deleted, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. In most cases the answer will be “we don’t have anything personal” because the analytics setup is anonymous and we don’t require accounts.
